Decorated German speed skater who won Olympic gold medals in the 1,500 meters in 2002 and in the team pursuit in 2006 and 2010. She is a multiple-time victor at the World Allround Championships as well as the World Single Distance Championships and set the 1,500 meter world record three times during her career.
Before Fame
She was born in Bad Reichenhall, Germany and first gained international attention by winning silver in the 1,500 and 3,000 meters at the 1997 World Single Distance Championships.

Apart form her speed skating her career, she has done swimsuit modelling and writing, publishing her autobiography My Life, My Sport, My Best Fitness Tips in 2004.
Family Life
She comes from a renowned speed skating family which includes her parents, Janina Korowicka and Georg Friesinger, as well as her siblings Jan and Agnes. She married Dutch speed skater Ids Postma, with whom she has children, in 2009.

She and the Czech Republic's Martina Sablikova are both multiple-time World Champions in women's allround speed skating.
