She was a friend of C.S. Lewis and was occasionally involved with Inklings, a literary society to which Lewis also belonged.

She married Vivian Ridler in 1938; the couple had two sons and two daughters.

Her poem, "I Who am Here Dissembled," contains allusions to T.S. Eliot's work and was included in an anthology published in celebration of Eliot's 60th birthday.
