British author famous for her historical detective fiction books and for her murder conviction. As a teenager, she and her friend Pauline Parker were convicted of murdering Parker's mother, Honorah Rieper. She served five years in prison in New Zealand for the crime, and upon her release moved to England and changed her name to Anne Perry. Her first book, The Cater Street Hangman, was published in 1979. She passed away in 2023.

Her health suffered throughout her childhood and she faced a variety of illnesses from a young age. She committed the murder in 1954 when she was 15 years old.

During her time living in the United States, she became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Family Life
Born Juliet Marion Hulme, she grew up in the Bahamas and New Zealand. Her father was Henry Rainsford Hulme, a scientist known for helping develop the British hydrogen bomb.

She was portrayed by Kate Winslet in the 1994 film Heavenly Creatures, and Melanie Lynskey played her friend Pauline.
