About
Irish sailor and winner of a silver medal in the Laser Radial at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. In December of that year, she was named the Irish Times/Sport Ireland 2016 Sportswoman of the Year. In 2017 she served as the grand marshal of the Dublin St. Patrick's Day Parade. In 2010 she became the first woman to win the Irish National Championships. She also competed in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Before Fame
She was born and raised in Rathfarnham, a suburb of Dublin. In 2009 she was 8th place in the World Championships. In 2012 she competed at the London Olympics, winning the first four days of racing. On the sixth day, she fell to second, just one point below the Belgian world number one, and was a strong contender for the gold but finished in 4th. Her first major win was at the 2013 European Sailing Championship where she took gold.

Family Life
Her mother is Cathy McAleavy, a former sailor who competed in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. She was married in December of 2020 and shared photos from the event on her Instagram. She has multiple yellow labs.
