Before Fame
She fell in love with reading and writing when she was 5 years old but did not pursue writing professionally for many years. She attended the University of Chicago and earned a degree in Economics. She initially worked as a finance professional on Wall Street but grew tired of working in that field. She began writing her first novel Close Liaisons and published it in 2013. She found success with this first novel and would go on to complete her first series The Krinar Chronicles.

She has also written romantic comedies. She has written under the pseudonym Misha Bell.
Family Life
She was born in Russia and moved to the United States when she was eleven years old. She has collaborated with her husband Dima Zales on multiple projects.
