Perhaps best remembered as the infant model for the Gerber Baby logo, this artist's daughter grew up to have a career as a writer, penning the Brandy O'Bannon series of mystery novels. Her individual O'Bannon books include Shadow Over Cedar Key and Trace Their Shadows. She lived until she was 95 years old. 

Before Fame

After graduating from the University of South Florida, she taught at elementary and junior high schools before accepting a creative writing and English teaching position at Hillsborough High School in Tampa, Florida.

Trivia

In the early 1990s, she was a contestant on the game show To Tell The Truth. The drawing of her as a baby was trademarked by Gerber in 1931.

Family Life

Though he did not create the charcoal image that was immortalized on Gerber Baby products (an artist neighbor, Dorothy Hope Smith, was responsible for that), Cook's father, Leslie Turner, became famous as the cartoonist of the popular Captain Easy comic strip.

She and Wendy Thomas (the daughter of Wendy's restaurant founder Dave Thomas) both had their childhood images immortalized in the logos of food companies.
