Vallenato cumbia singer-songwriter and accordionist known as "El Tigre Sabanero," whose decades-long career earned him acclaim and popularity throughout all of Latin America. In addition to traditional cumbia music, he also played genres such as regional Colombian and Musica Tropicale.

Before Fame

He first started to play the accordion when he was just 12 years old. While residing in Mexico City, Mexico, in 1979, he created his musical group, known as Sus Sabaneros. He later relocated to San Antonio, TX in 1984.

Trivia

His discography included over 50 titles, spanning over the course of 45 years from 1960 to 2015. Some of his other songs included "Playas Marinas," "Immortales," and "El Toro de Tres Palos." Some of his best-known tracks included "La Cumbia Sampuesana," "La Gorra," "La Burrita," and "El Campanero."

Family Life

He was the son of Aurora Aguirre and Miguel Molina. He married his wife Carmen Peralta in the year 2001. He passed away at the age of 75 as the result of a bacterial infection in his lungs, after having been hospitalized for over 1 month.
