Angela Hill

About

Accomplished, record-breaking mixed martial artist best known for competing in the strawweight division for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. She made headlines in 2019 when she became the first African American woman to fight in the UFC. She has racked up the most total fight time, most bouts, and most wins in UFC Women's, in her weight class. She was also named the winner of the Invicta Fighting Championships in May of 2016, making her the 4th women to ever achieve the title.

Before Fame

After graduating from the Cooper Union School of Art with a bachelor's degree in fine arts, she earned employment as an animator in a studio and as a bartender. She set her professional MMA career into motion in the year 2014, when she won a match against Stephanie Skinner.

Trivia

While fighting for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, she was awarded Fight of the Night on at least 4 separate occasions. She was also the recipient of Performance of the Night, for her match against Luana Pinheiro in May 2024. In September 2020, she also took home Fight of the Month from MMAjunkie.com, after her match against Michelle Waterson.

Family Life

She is the granddaughter of Barney and Betty Hill, who earned fame for the credibility of their alien abduction claim in the early 1960s. 

Associated With

Throughout her MMA career, she has faced up against some of the greatest names in women's mixed martial arts, including Carla Esparza and Rose Namajunas. In 2019, she also replaced the injured Jessica Penne in a match against Jodie Esquibel which she went on to win by unanimous decision.
