About
English chef specializing in Chinese cuisine who has gained through his restaurants, A. Wang in London and Baoshuan in New Delhi. One of the factors that sets his cooking apart is that he has studied with chefs cooking in kitchens located along all of China's fourteen borders, resulting in a diverse palate of flavors and techniques to work with and merge. He joined the SOAS Food Studies Centre of the SOAS University of London as a research associate in May 2020.
Before Fame
His father wanted him to become a chef but he chose to study chemistry in school. In 2003, after his father's death, he accepted his mother's request to help run the four family restaurants. Since then, he has studied cooking at Westminster Kingsway College, taken Chinese cultural classes in China, and opened his own restaurants.
Trivia
The Caterer magazine named him Chef of The Year at The Catey Awards in 2021. His London-based restaurant earned two Michelin stars. He shares photos of his culinary creations and promotes his work on his awongsw1 Instagram page, which has amassed 40,000 followers.
Family Life
Both his parents and grandparents had restaurants located throughout London. His parents are Annie and Albert Wong. Their most famous restaurant is Kym's.
