Brazilian professional grappler and mixed martial artist. He is known for specializing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has competed in several World Championships, Pan American Championships, and World Cup events.
Before Fame
He earned his third degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He began earning recognition for his fighting in 2002 when he won a gold medal at the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championships. In 2004, he went on to compete in the Pan American Championships where he also took home the gold medal as well. He made his MMA debut in 2008.
Trivia
From 2012 until 2014, he won three consecutive gold medals at the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Cup in Abu Dhabi. He is also known for having written the martial arts book Drill to Win: One Year to Better Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Family Life
He was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil but later moved to San Diego, California to continue his BJJ training.
