Professional golfer and member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, the National Jewish Museum Sports Hall of Fame, and the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. She has earned five major championships and 29 LPGA Tour events throughout her career. Additionally, she helped design the golf course for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Before Fame
She was allowed special privileges onto the course of her local golf club at just nine years old, after gaining recognition for her talent in the sport. She turned professional at the age of 18, immediately following her graduation from Palisades High School in Pacific Palisades, CA. She won the Orange Blossom Classic on the LPGA Tour at the age of 19 and went on to earn the title of LPGA Tour's Rookie of the Year.
Trivia
She originated what is now a tradition amongst winners of The Chevron Championship, by jumping into Poppie's Pond to celebrate her victory in 1988.
Family Life
She was raised by her parents in California. Her father was an orthodontist.
