Amir El-Masry

About

Award-winning actor who earned the titles of BAFTA Breakthrough Brit in 2020 and Screen International Star of Tomorrow in 2021. Some of his most notable credits include the role of Alireza in Jon Stewart's political drama Rosewater and his critically acclaimed portrayal of Youssef in the miniseries The Night Manager. He also received substantial praise for his performance as Omar in the comedy-drama Limbo.

Before Fame

He attended the Royal Holloway University of London with a bachelor's degree in criminology and sociology. He then went on to attend the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) until his graduation in 2013.

Trivia

He won Best Movie Debut for his inaugural film, Ramadan Mabrouk Abu El Alamein Hamouda, at the 2009 Egyptian Cinema Oscar Festival. His performance in the movie Limbo earned numerous nominations and a win for Best Actor in a Film at the 2021 British Academy Scotland Awards.

He is the son of father Ahmed El Masry.
