Amir Albazi

Professional mixed martial artist of Iraqi heritage known for being associated with the Ultimate Fighting Championship and competing in the flyweight division of the UFC. He is also known by his ring name, "The Prince."

Before Fame

He first discovered MMA accidentally while it was playing on TV. After watching it on TV and developing a passionate interest in it, he sought the nearest gym in Stockholm where he could learn the sport. He began competing in 2009 and won several major jiu-jitsu titles as a teenager while traveling around Europe for MMA bouts. Until he came of age, he had to lie about how old he was so he would be able to participate in MMA. 

Trivia

He arrived in Sweden without being able to speak a word of Swedish and he experienced severe culture shock in his new surroundings. He aspires to return to Iraq and develop MMA there.

Family Life

He was born in Baghdad, Iraq. He and his family fled Baghdad in the middle of the night when he was seven years old. His family stayed in Syria for a year and a half before moving to Stockholm, Sweden.
