Author, writer, vocalist, and singer illustriously known for having been a member of the award-winning, female Christian pop rock and teen pop group known as ZOEgirl, which was active from 1999 to 2006. The group became the fastest-selling artist signed to Sparrow Records in the label's history and sold over 1 million albums by 2003. The group earned distinctions including a GMA Dove Award for New Artist of the Year and the #1 spot on Billboard's Top Heatseekers Album chart with their final studio album, "Room to Breathe."
Before Fame
Throughout her youth, she played the piano and trained in gymnastics. She managed a youth center in Manhattan after having relocated to New York at the age of 21. Upon her return to California, she was introduced to Kristin Swinford-Schweain and Chrissy Conway-Katina, and the 3 formed the group ZOEgirl together before ultimately becoming signed by Sparrow Records in 1999.
Trivia
She is the author of several books, including a memoir about her experiences with progressive Christianity called Another Gospel. The book inspired her second title, which was called Live Your Truth and Other Lies. She also co-wrote a book called The Deconstruction of Christianity with author Tim Barnett in 2024 which discussed the deconstruction movement.
Family Life
She was born Alisa Noelle Girard, to her mother Karen and her father Chuck Girard, who was considered a trailblazer of the Christian rock music genre and became the founder and lead singer of the revered band known as Love Song. She and her husband Mike Childers, who was a drummer for ZOEgirl, welcomed a daughter named Dyllan Joi in 2008 before having a son named Ayden in 2011.
