Alice Weidel

About

Politician who served as co-chairwoman of the far-right Alternative for Germany party, along with co-chair Tino Chrupalla, as of June of 2022. In October 2017, she earned the position of AfD parliamentary group leader. Some of the many views she has promoted throughout her governmental career include Euroscepticism, the negative impact of increased immigration to Germany, and the importance of party unity.

Before Fame

She attended the Christliches Jugenddorfwerk Deutschlands Gymnasium. She later went on to graduate from the University of Bayreuth as one of the top students of her class in 2004 with a degree in economics and business administration. She initiated her working career as an analyst in asset management for Goldman Sachs. She resigned approximately 1 year later and went on to work for the Bank of China.

Trivia

In 2011, she became the recipient of a doctorate summa cum laude and was named a Doctor of Philosophy in international development. This Konrad Adenauer Foundation-backed doctorate came as a result of a doctoral thesis she had co-penned with economist Peter Oberender at the Faculty of Law and Economics in Bayreuth, focused on the outlook of Chinese pension systems.

Family Life

She has been involved in a civil union with partner Sarah Bossard for several years. The pair share 2 children together.
