This Konrad Adenauer Foundation-backed doctorate came as a result of a doctoral thesis she had co-penned with economist Peter Oberender at the Faculty of Law and Economics in Bayreuth, focused on the outlook of Chinese pension systems.

She has been involved in a civil union with partner Sarah Bossard for several years. The pair share 2 children together.
