Before Fame
He started his professional career as a composer in the year 1983, beginning with the thriller drama film Suburbia, which starred Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea. He later composed for the film From Hollywood to Deadwood in the year 1988 before starting his sound editing career with the 1990 film White Palace.
Trivia
In 2008, he earned a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Sound Editing for the HBO miniseries John Adams. The following year, he also received a Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack Album for his work on The Dark Knight. His 2018 Academy Award win for Best Sound Editing of the film Dunkirk brought him to just a Tony Award away from an "EGOT."
