About
Brazilian singer, vocalist, composer, and songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who is widely hailed as one of the best Pernambuco musicians of all time. He has toured the world and released over 20 studio albums throughout his career, including "Cavalo De Pau" and "Mágico."
Before Fame
After competing in a singing contest at the age of five, he began taking interest in musical instruments at a young age and obtained his own guitar at fifteen. He earned a law degree from Recife Law School in 1970 and briefly pursued law as a career before officially launching his music career as part of the group Underground Tamarineira Village, which would later be known as Ave Sangria.
Trivia
His album "Senhora Estrada" won the 2022 Latin Grammy Award for Best Portuguese Language Roots Album. He has also been the recipient of a UBC Award and the Sharp Prize for Best Song of the Year, for his song "Pétalas" in 1994.
Family Life
He is the son of Adelma Valença and Décio Valença. He married his wife Yanê Montenegro on March 12, 2004. He is the father of three sons named Ceceu, Rafael, and Juliano.
