Ruler of the Khilji dynasty known for reigning as the Sultan of Delhi from 1296 to 1316 and known for his military prowess, administrative reforms, and ambitious expansionist policies which significantly shaped medieval India's history. He is considered one of one of the most controversial and influential rulers in Indian history.
Before Fame
His early life in the Khilji tribe of the Ghilzai Pashtuns is scarcely documented but his rise to prominence began under his predecessor and uncle Jalaluddin Firuz Khilji. He led a revolt against Jalaluddin and took over his throne after killing him.
Trivia
He established a state-controlled market system to regulate prices and ensure fair trade. He successfully defeated multiple Mongol invasions.

His birth name was Ali Gurshasp. He was born in Qalāt-e Ġilzay, Afghanistan. He had three brothers. He had multiple wives. He died on January 4th, 1396 of either illness or murder.
