Akhil Marar

About

Director of Malayalam cinema and reality star who rose to fame after competing on season five of the reality show Bigg Boss Malayalam. He made his directing debut in 2015 with the film Perariyathavar and is also well-known for his 2021 film Oru Thatvika Avalokanam.

Before Fame

Prior to becoming a director, he worked at several medical companies as a representative, and later, as an area manager. After enduring a difficult breakup, he quit his job in the medical industry and opened a juice kiosk.

Trivia

The juice kiosk he owned was named after his favorite book, The Alchemist. He has expressed that this book gave him the courage and inspired him to quit his job to pursue his dreams of becoming a director.  

Family Life

He is the son of father Rajendran Pillai and mother Ammini Amma. In January 2015, he married his wife Rajaleshmi Akhil. Together, they have  daughters, Parkrithi and Prathana. 

Associated With

He directed the 2021 comedy film Oru Thatvika Avalokanam, which starred actors Aju Varghese and Prem Kumar.
