He was considered a four-star prospect while at the Southern California Academy. As a senior, he originally committed to the University of Texas.

Trivia

Just like himself, NBA point guard LaMelo Ball also played for the Illawarra Hawks as a teenager. Former NBA point guard, Aaron Brooks, also once played for the Illawarra Hawks. He stands six feet, five inches tall and weighs roughly 165 pounds.
