Northern Irish actress, entertainer, artist, and performer who is known for her widely varied theatre, television, and film roles. Most notably, from the year 2014 to the year 2015, she starred as the character Letitia MacKenzie in the Starz series Outlander. 

Before Fame

She was born the eldest of three children in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland to parents Lorcan and Margaret. She attended Sacred Heart Grammar School in Newry.

Trivia

She planned to study law in university, but changed her mind to pursue a degree in acting at Rose Bruford College in South East London. Her early film work includes The Nephew (1998) and The White Countess (2005). In 2020, she played the role of a mother in the BBC One miniseries Normal People.

Family Life

She met her ex-husband Aidan McArdle in London through a Royal Shakespeare Company production of Richard III. They married in 2004 and have three children, Mireille, Lorcan, and Senan. The family moved to Dublin in 2015 and divorced in 2019.
