Aimee Baruah

About

Multi award-winning actress, director, philanthropist, and entrepreneur best known for her work in films such as Jetuka Pator Dore and Semkhor, the latter of which she also directed. Through her organization, The Aimee Baruah Foundation, she has assisted countless families and animals during crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the annual flooding that occurs in Assam as a result of the region's monsoons. She is also the owner of a health club called SK27 and has collaborated with brands such as Sunsilk and Myntra.  

Before Fame

She launched her performing career as a child, and appeared in her first feature film, Axomor Sadhukotha, while she was 14 years old and a student in middle school. She later earned a master's degree in sociology and a gold medal in economics and went on to pursue her PhD from Guwahati University. 

Trivia

She has been the recipient of numerous accolades, including a Best Actress Award at the Toronto International Women's Film Festival and a Special Audience Award at the 20th Dhaka International Film Festival.

Family Life

She is the daughter of mother Mala and father Purna Baruah, the latter of whom is a superintendent for the police service. In October 2011, she married minister and Bharatiya Janta Party Cabinet Member, Pijush Hazarika. Together, they have two children.

Associated With

She co-starred with fellow Assamese actress Amrita Gogoi in the 2019 action drama and romance film Pratighaat, which featured a soundtrack composed by Zubeen Garg.
