Initially, the name on his birth certificate was Afganistan. However, his name was changed to Afgan Syahreza, because his father was worried that his son would have difficulty traveling abroad. He is the second of four children of Loyd Yahya and Lola Purnama. He has three siblings, whose names are Kharisma Dheri, Dhika Claresta, and Arsya Satya Yudha.
