Indian musician, percussionist, and tabla maestro known for being "the face of Indian drumming." He has been recognized as a "top grade" artist by All India Radio, along with numerous other awards. In 2008, he founded the Shyamal Music Foundation, which was founded in 2008. The foundation uses Indian musical performances and awareness to raise money for children battling cancer. He started a band called Renaissance Heart during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Before Fame
He was a child prodigy who could replicate intricate rhythmic patterns on his first tabla at the age of three. He began his rise to fame after his performance with guru Zakir Hussain in a Wah Taj! commercial when he was 11 years old. He continued playing and training and collaborated with a variety of Indian percussionists and tabla players.
