Before Fame

Born into a Kanpur-based Bengali Brahmin family, he graduated with a commerce degree from Christ Church College, Kanpur, in 1977.

Abhijeet began his musical journey by performing on stage in 1970 and moved to Mumbai in 1981 to pursue a career in playback singing. He was nominated for Forbes India's Popular 100 Indian Celebrity list in the year 2014. With a career spanning decades, he has performed over 6,050 songs across more than 1,000 films.

Family Life

Abhijeet is the youngest of four siblings, born to news editor Dheerendranath Bhattacharya and Kamla Bhattacharya. He is married and has two children, Mayukhi and Jai.
