MMA trainer who rose to fame as the father and coach of MMA legend Khabib Nurmagomedov. He passed away in July 2020 after a battle with COVID-19. 

Before Fame

He served in the Soviet Army as a young man, and began training in judo and samba. He eventually became a champion in both. 

Trivia

He began training his son in martial arts when Khabib was 8 years old. He helped coach his son to an undefeated professional MMA career and the UFC lightweight championship. 

Family Life

In addition to his son Khabib, he had another son named Magomed and a daughter named Amina.
