Ethiopian musical artist best known for his original songs written in the Semitic language known as Amharic. He has released numerous studio albums including "Fikir Beamarigna," "Minew Shewa," and "Tikur Anbessa." Before embarking on his first world tour, he also collaborated on an original track, the proceeds of which went on to support HIV awareness in Ethiopia.

Before Fame

After graduating from high school, he joined a band called Express in 1997. The band performed a wide range of musical styles including dancehall, hip hop, and reggae at well-known local nightclubs including Lion Club and Coffee House. The following year, he relocated to Saudi Arabia, where he found employment as a salesman at a Jeddah-based clothing store, before releasing his debut album titled "Merkato Sefere" in 2003.

In the year 2011, after relocating to Alexandria, Virginia, in the United States, he returned to college. He went on to earn an associate's degree of science in information technology. He has also shared his music on his self-titled YouTube channel, which has enlisted more than 380,000 subscribers to date.

He is the son of Kiar Kahssay and Wuba Siraj Abdu. In 2006, he married Metasebia Negussie, who works as a nurse. The pair share 2 sons named Aman and Sami Kiar.
