He was the director of the First Examinant Department of Legal Affairs Bureau of the War Ministry. İsmet İnönü (born Mustafa İsmet) was born in 1884 in Smyrna (İzmir) in the Aidin Vilayet to Hacı Reşit and Cevriye (later Cevriye Temelli).
