A country that occupies the Qatar Peninsula on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. Its only land border is with Saudi Arabia to the south. It is considered the richest country in the world. The country hosted the Men's FIFA World Cup in 2022.
It is one of only four territories in the world without forests. Camel racing is a favorite local sport. Prior to finding natural gas and oil, Qataris used to earn a living by diving for pearls.
