A self-governing Crown Dependency in the Irish Sea between Great Britain and Ireland. It is not part of the United Kingdom or European Union but its inhabitants are British citizens. It has its own self-governing parliament.
It was permanently settled by Celts and fell under Viking control in 1079. The original language was called Manx. The symbol on the flag is the Triskelion, an ancient Celtic symbol.
