A self-governing British Overseas Territory in the North Atlantic Ocean. It became a crown colony in 1684. Its pink sand beaches and blue ocean waters make it a popular tourism destination.
Its only source of fresh water is rainfall. It was originally covered by forests of Bermuda cedar, with mangrove marshes along its shores. Sailing, fishing, and equestrian sports are popular.
