Award that is given to the player who delivers the best performance during the National League Championship Series. In most cases, the winner of the award has been a member of the NLCS-winning team, helping lead his team to the World Series.
First baseman Steve Garvey became the first player to win the award twice. His first came as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1978. He won the award again when helping lead the San Diego Padres to an NLCS victory in 1984.
