Elliptical amphitheater that is the largest ancient amphitheater ever built. It remains the largest standing amphitheater in the world. The colosseum was started under the rule of Emperor Vespasian and was completed during the reign of his son Titus. It was used for gladiator battles and the reenactments famous battles.
It is known as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. The famous building is depicted on Italy's 5 euro cent coin.
